Frequently Asked Questions
The hardiness of plants describes their ability to survive adverse growing conditions. Knowing your grow zone is the key to choosing plants that can survive and thrive in your particular area. Understanding grow zones means you can pick plants for your garden that will be most likely to survive your local winters. The zones are not important for annuals since these are plants you would only expect to survive in the summer months or one season.
At Grasshopper Gardens, our local delivery is free. Outside of our local service area delivery is also available.
Shipping and handling cost depends on which fulfillment option is available for your order, your location, and the size of the plants being purchased.
We currently offer three shipping and fulfillment options:
Free Local Delivery
If your address is within our local delivery zone, we will deliver your plant order to you for free. There is no delivery charge for qualifying local delivery orders.
UPS Ground Shipping
If you are outside our local delivery zone, eligible plants may be shipped by UPS Ground. UPS Ground shipping rates are calculated based on the delivery address, package size, package weight, and the items in your order.
UPS Ground shipping is currently available to the following states:
New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Free Local Pickup
Customers may also pick up their order for free at our nursery location:

There is no shipping or delivery charge for local pickup orders.
Please note that not all plants can be shipped by UPS. We currently ship plants up to #5 containers and some smaller #7 containers. Larger trees and oversized plants, such as many B&B trees, #10 containers, and #35 containers, cannot be shipped because they are too large. These larger items may still be available for free local pickup, and they may qualify for free local delivery if the address is within our local delivery zone.
Tracking numbers are provided once your order has been processed by our nursery manager and prepared for shipment.
If you decide to return a plant for a refund, you must do so within 5 days of arrival. If you have an issue with your plant or tree, please give us a call as soon as possible so we can provide expert assistance and work to provide a replacement if needed.
We accept several secure online payment options at checkout.
Customers can pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Link, and major credit or debit cards. We supports credit and debit card payments directly through our checkout, including major card brands such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
Available payment options may vary depending on your device, browser, saved wallet settings, and checkout details. For example, Apple Pay and Google Pay may only appear when they are supported by your device and browser.
You will receive an email confirmation immediately following the placement of your order. Once your order is p Once your order has been processed, you will receive an email with care instructions for your new plant. Once your order has shipped you will be notified with an email and tracking # information.
We currently offer UPS Ground shipping to the following states:
New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
If your address is within our local delivery zone, you may qualify for free local delivery instead of UPS Ground shipping.
We do not currently ship plants outside of the listed UPS Ground shipping states. If your order contains a plant that is too large to ship, you may still be able to pick it up for free at our nursery location:

If you are outside our local delivery zone but located in one of our approved shipping states, eligible plants can be shipped by UPS Ground. Shipping cost is based on current UPS Ground rates.

After your order is reviewed, packed, and ready for UPS Ground shipping, we will provide the tracking information connected to your shipment.
If your order is being delivered locally or picked up at our nursery, a UPS tracking number may not apply.
