Overdam Feather Reed Grass typically forms a foliage clump about 2 to 3 feet tall and 1½ to 2 feet wide, with flowering stems extending approximately 3 to 4 feet high. Its slender green blades display creamy white margins that may take on a soft pink blush during cool spring weather. Airy flower heads emerge with pinkish tones in early summer, then gradually narrow and mature to golden tan.

The foliage is deciduous, but its dried stems and seed heads provide valuable fall and winter structure when left standing. Because this hybrid generally does not produce viable seed, it remains in an orderly clump rather than spreading through the garden by seedlings. Use it as a vertical accent, a repeated border element, a textural companion for broad-leaved perennials, or a seasonal container centerpiece.
